Online Safety

Online safety is an important part of keeping children safe at Montrose School. We have extensive security measures in place in school, which are monitored to help safeguard pupils from potential dangers or unsuitable material. Online safety incidents are recorded and dealt with swiftly.  Class teacher ensuring online safety is taught to all pupils explaining and demonstrating how to stay safe and behave appropriately online. It is important that you speak to your children about how they can keep safe and behave appropriately online and that you monitor what they are doing when using phones, computers tablets etc.

We send out regular online safety newsletters to support you in keeping children safe outside of school. These can be found on our newsletters page.  The 'Speak Out Stay Safe' programme from the NSPCC offers further advice and guidance on how to keep children safe online.

Children under 5, particularly those aged 18-36 months, are at most risk from blind cord/chain strangulation, although this can affect older vulnerable children as well.  In the UK, since 1999, we are aware of a total of 30 deaths from blind cord strangulation, with 17 of these since 2010.
